Acne Tips

Updated: Mar 31, 2021

Acne affects 5.6 million Canadians, nearly 20 per cent of the population.

Acne is a very common skin condition. Both men and women can suffer from acne. It most likely will affect you in your teenage years or during your young adult life but it can also affect adults later on in life.

Acne is caused by having over active sebaceous (oil) glands. The oil glands produce excess oil which in return clogs your pores. If you normally have oily skin, you might suffer from acne most of your life but if you have a pretty normal skin type, acne might only affect you in your teens, that time of the month (for women) and when you hit menopause (again, only for women).

How to Help Prevent Acne:

💥 Don’t touch your face

💥 Use a cleanser that contains Salicylic Acid and/or Benzoyl Peroxide 💥 Wash your pillowcase weekly

💥 Use an oil-free moisturizer

💥 Don’t pick at your face

💥 Eat anti-inflammatory foods as often as possible 💥 Exfoliate 1-2x a week

💥 Get monthly facials by a professional

It’s important to get ahead of the game, if you’re prone to get cystic acne to get regular facials and get on a regular homecare routine. Non-Inflammatory

Inflammatory

It’s important to know which type of acne you may be suffering from to make sure you’re using the right products. Exfoliation is a great way to help prevent acne but after you already have it, it’s important to use the right exfoliation products not to make it worse.

By following these tips, you’ll be less likely to get unwanted acne. Don’t get me wrong, we all get pimples but full blown acne might be less likely to affect you if you follow these tips. All in all, book a facial so we can explain all this to you in greater detail. Our online booking system is now up and running!
